Tour Overview

This 10 days Experience Rwanda safari Adventure will offer you a great opportunity to explore the diverse landscape and experience diverse Rwanda attractions. During this trip, you will be able to visit all the three Rwanda parks including Nyungwe forest national park, Akagera and Volcanoes national park and optional visit to lake Kivu to spice up your safari. You will also interact with the locals, as you go about your daily activities. During the 10 days, you will do both Gorilla trekking and Golden monkey trekking experience.

Day by Day Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and airport transfer to hotel

Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, and go through the procedures of customs and migration, you will be met by our company driver/ guide who will welcome you to the land of a thousand hills and later drive you to your booked hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After morning breakfast at the lodge, the driver/guide will pick you up as you start your journey to Akagera National Park, the journey takes about 2-3 hours depending on the road stopovers with a beautiful un winding landscape enroute to the park. On arrival at the park, you will proceed to the accommodation with a brief game drive on arrival, you will check in for lunch. Thereafter, you will go on a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch hippos, crocodiles in the water or by the shores and encounter buffaloes and elephants wallowing in the water bank. Later evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3: Full Day game drive

You will have morning breakfast by 6:00am and leave for morning game drive in Akagera national park, best time to catch up with the morning risers be on the look for the big animals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, several Antelope species and lions and Rhinos were recently re- introduced too. The park is a varied habitat for wildlife and several bird species mounting to over 500 recorded bird species thus making it a birding paradise. You will have a picnic lunch and after proceed with afternoon game drive for more game viewing. Later evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali

Wake and have your morning breakfast, after set off for Kigali arriving in the lodge in time for lunch, later afternoon, you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial grounds where over 250000 bodies of victims of the 1994 Rwanda genocide were buried in a mass ground. This place acts as museum and education center. There is a lot to see and learn from the Rwandan history. Later evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park

Have your morning breakfast and checkout of the hotel and drive heading to the western province, enroute, you will visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province, this will offer you a great opportunity to have insight in to the traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership of Kingship. Lunch will be enroute arriving in the afternoon at Nyungwe national park and spend the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking & canopy

Today, after your early morning cap of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe well known for having 13 species of primates, head out to the park headquarters for briefing on rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking. After you will be accompanied by ranger guide for the chimp trek. When you have the chimps, you will be allowed one hour with thew. Return to the lodge for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. These 70 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a luck day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later afternoon, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Musanze.

You will make up ready to catch up with the beautiful sun rise over the Lake Kivu, have your morning breakfast and thereafter, take a boat ride to explore the beautiful attractions within this great lake. You have a nature walk at one of the islands within this lake which is known for harboring thousands of the bats. This lake is also known as a birding paradise as it hosts a number of bird species like the comrand, pied king fishers, weaver birds, heron to mention but a few. You will later return for and drive off to Musanze which is roughly a 3 hours’ drive. Musanze is a tourism area near Volcanoes National Park, where most of the lodges are located since there are no lodges inside of the park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Early morning cup of coffee, then with your packed lunch, transfer for pre gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters and thereafter, you will be divided in groups accompanied by ranger guide to begin the search in the forest. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures depending on the gorilla family assigned to you. a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, relax at your lodge and enjoy the great ample moment at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Golden monkey & Transfer to Kigali.

Rise up early for morning breakfast and atter, you will be picked up by our safari driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and start off you day golden monkey trekking. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking although golden monkey trekking is not as hectic as gorilla trekking because the moneys are nosier and live in low land areas thus easier to locate them. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon transfer to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Transfer back to Kigali

Have a relaxed morning breakfast and after, go on a brief game drive before we drive back to Kigali with enroute lunch before a drop off at the airport for departure flight or at your preferred location.

Getting There

The trip will start from Kigali International Airport to Akagera National Park to Nyungwe National Park to Volcanoes National Park and you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport.
