21 Days Experiencing Rwanda Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to hotel
On arrival at the Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by one of company representative who will also pick you up and transfer you to hotel for rest from your long flight. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Accommodation: four points by Sheraton.

Day 2: The Capital City Exploration
Explore Kigali, the capital city, and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history.
Take a city tour to discover local markets, art galleries, and the vibrant culture. Later evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Experiencing Rwandan Life
In the morning after the breakfast, head to Muhanga to Join a local at their hillside, working, feasting, creating and laughing by participating in a day of life of artisans, imigongo (cow dung art experience), traditional cooking, Candle Dipping and Hive Making. After we head to Butare and visit the Nyanza Loyal palace en route to Butare.
Day 4: Visit to Museum in Butare
Rise up for morning breakfast and thereafter, the driver will drive you to the National Museum, one of the top places in Rwanda, this is the introduction to Rwanda’s Kingdoms discovery of colonial architecture. Have lunch and in the afternoon, enjoy performance from the traditional dancers in the museum, you will also visit the Catholic church in Butare. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Have morning breakfast, after check out of the lodge and drive to Nyungwe forest National Park. On arrival, you will go on canopy walk in the Nyungwe Forest for stunning views. After, proceed to the lodge where you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking
After morning breakfast, head out to the park headquarters for briefing about the rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking, after you will be accompanied by the rangers as you trek through the forest to see chimpanzees and other primates, the park is a home to over 13 primate species with the chimpanzees as the main attraction. The activity may last for about 2-3 hours depending on the movement of the chimps. When you find them, you will be allowed one hour with them as you observe them, watch them play, feed, breastfeed among other daily activities. Thereafter, return to the lodge for lunch and brief rest. In the afternoon, go on hike to Kamiranzovu waterfall. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 7: Visit the tea Plantation
Wake up and have morning breakfast thereafter, go visit the tea plantation, Gisakura Tea Plantation situated in the southern Province of Rwanda. This is among the famous and most beautiful tea plantations in Rwanda. Later afternoon, proceed to Kibuye along Kivu Lake where you will have fantastic view of the country.
Day 8: Explore Kibuye and Enjoy boat trip
After morning breakfast, go on boat trip to lake Kivu where you will visit different Islands, you will have a break for lunch and after drive to visit the environmental museum, it comprises of educational displays about energy sources and the environmental impact of different types of fuel sources. Although it may not appeal to those with knowledge about sustainability, the there is an excellent rooftop garden with collection of native plants each having its purpose in the making if traditional medicine.
Day 9: Transfer to Gisenyi-Congo Nile trail Excursion
After morning breakfast, check out and transfer to a historical Congo Nile trail passing through Gisenyi or Rubavu, where you will have an opportunity to explore the beauty and unique sites of the trail which include; coffee and tea tour experience, local livelihoods, fishing with the local fishermen using traditional boats.
Day 10: Community projects in Gisenyi.
You will spend this day exploring some of interesting community projects. While here you will meet and interact with the locals who live with HIV/AIDS, former prostitutes, widows of genocide, street kids.
Day 11: Kayaking in Kivu Lake
After morning breakfast, will go for Kayaking in Kivu Lake where you will enjoy some of the interesting activities along lake Kivu. This is a perfect gateway for relaxation along days activities like gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking among others. Although it does not require any experience and thus no skills are required but still a little fitness needed. During the activity, you will be accompanied by professional guides who will give you the instructions and the help you will need.
After you will a city tour of Rubavu where you will be visiting Two borders with DRC and the hot springs. Later back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Buhanga Eco Park-Red Rocks
After morning breakfast, drive to Musanze. On arrival, meet with your respective park rangers who will take you to Buhanga Eco Park this has been a sacred forest where the Rwandese Kings performed initiation ceremonies. Today it is a testimonial to past societies that conducted such rituals. While here, there is an opportunity to go on a trail walk through the park and see where these rituals took place. When you have reached one of the ritual sites in the park, come across a small ditch that is surrounded by a flowery thicket and small lava stones. This is where the kings’ assistants, the Abiru, pick some herbs and add to spring water to make a ritual bath for the king’s coronation. After you will proceed to visit the red rocks for home stay.
Day 13: Gorilla trekking and cultural Visit
After early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, drive to the park headquarters where you will attend pre trekking briefing by the ranger guides about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking. You will then be divided in groups each of 8 members and assigned a gorilla family you will be tracking. Thereafter, you will be accompanied by the ranger guide to begin with your search in the forest. The activity may last for about 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. When you have found them, you will be allowed one hour to observe them. In the afternoon, Immerse yourself in Rwandan culture in Musanze. Visit local villages, participate in traditional dances, and try Rwandan cuisine.
Day 14: Golden monkey trekking
Have morning breakfast and after, proceed to the park offices where you will be briefed about golden monkey trekking dos and don’ts while trekking the golden monkeys. You will be accompanied by your ranger guide assigned to your group, who will take you to the forest to begin with your search. When you find them, you will spend a period of one hour with them observing them play, feed, breast feed young ones among other daily activities. Return to the lodge where you will have lunch and brief relaxation.
Later afternoon, visit the twin lakes, while here, you can participate in several activities like boat cruise, canoeing or paddle boarding, community tour/village walk, birding where you will encounter several bird species along the shores of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 15: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Have a relaxed morning breakfast and thereafter, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Akagera National Park, arriving in the park in time for lunch, have lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 16: Akagera National Park Tour and Boat Trip
Have morning breakfast and thereafter, drive to the park for morning game drive best time to catch up with the early risers. Enjoy game drives to spot wildlife like elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. Drive back to the lodge for lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, go on a boat a cruise in lake Ihema that will reward with great sightings of large number of hippos, huge crocodiles and variety of bird species.
Day 17: Game drives in Akagera National Park
Early morning, after breakfast heads for search the big 5 plus the 12 species of antelopes including the biggest antelopes such as the eland cape and roan antelopes, the topi, some of the 525-bird species including 4 Albertine rift endemics, reptiles, amphibians, plants, magnificent landscapes, historical sites; a place with the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer in any national park of Africa and hundreds of hippos.
Day 18: Transfer bac to Kigali
Have morning breakfast and thereafter, check out and embark on the journey back to Kigali, enroute you will make stopover where you will visit Agahozo Youth Village.
Day 19: Visit Bugesera
This day is dedicated to an excursion to the Nyamata and Ntarama Genocide memorials after you will head for lunch in la Palice hotel on the beach of Rumira Lake. Back to Kigali for overnight.
Day 20: Kigali community visit
Wake up for morning breakfast and thereafter, go on Nyamirambo Walking tour, Nyamirambo is a bustling multi-cultural commercial district in Kigali. This unique experience brings you right into the heart of the colors, noises and smells of urban Rwanda. And visit Bwiza Village during this visit you can see how the government has helped to bring new housing to this community along with their local arts and crafts.
Day 21: Departure
After morning breakfast, drive to Kigali town for last minute shopping prior to your departure flight. You will have lunch before a drop off at the Kigali international airport for your departure flight back home.

Getting There
The trip will start from Kigali International Airport to Nyungwe National Park to Lake Kivu to Volcanoes National Park to Akagera National Park and you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport.
