Day by Day Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Kigali – Ruhengeri – Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin your journey with a visit to the genocide memorial site in Kigali. After that, travel for two hours to Musanze, the second-largest town in Rwanda, which boasts a breathtaking backdrop of the Virunga Mountains, five volcanic mountains.
The Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo are seen as soon as you arrive at Musanze.

These stunning twin lakes, Bulera and Ruhondo, along with adjacent Swamp Rugezi, make for charming, serene, and alluring spots for avian observation. One of Rwanda’s top seven IBAs (incredible birding sites) is Rugezi Wetland.
In the evening, you will go to the local market in Musanze and the Dian Fossey Museum.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Gisenyi.

You will begin the second day of the gorilla experience with an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for an official briefing before heading into the forest to search for the critically endangered mountain gorilla. You will cross the volcanic mountains on the route, which stretch from the Congo to Rwanda and Uganda.

Memorable safari experiences are created by the diversity of birds and other animals, the beautiful green flora that covers the hills, and other factors. The duration of the gorilla expedition may vary between two and eight hours, contingent upon the gorillas’ activities.

Following your amazing hour with the gorillas, you will have lunch at the lodge, check out, and travel to Gisenyi, where you will arrive late in the afternoon for supper and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Gisenyi – Nyungwe Forest National Park.

After breakfast in the morning, you will check out and ride down the Congo-Nile border to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you may take in breathtaking views of the water catchment areas. The trip to Nyungwe is worthwhile because of the views of Lake Kivu and the resort towns of Gisenyi, Kibuye, and Cyangugu. You will arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and a restful night.

Day 4: Nyungwe Forest Chimpanzee Trekking – Canopy Walk.

After breakfast you’ll head to the park headquarters for an orientation before pursuing the monkey through the jungle. The 2-to 5-hour chimpanzee trek includes a 1-hour up close and personal encounter with the primates on the fourth day of your 5-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Chimps.

You’ll head back to the resort for lunch and relaxation after the excursion. You’ll go on an afternoon Nyungwe canopy walk at the Uwinka Visitor Center after lunch.
A breathtaking view of the forest and its various inhabitants, including birds and monkeys, can be had throughout the two-hour hike to the top of the canopy. Later in the evening, you will make your way back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer To Kigali.

After breakfast, you will leave the hotel and start the trip back to Kigali. The largest museum in Rwanda, the Ethnographic Museum, may be visited in Butare. It houses over 100,000 artifacts that depict the country’s history and culture. You will be given a tour of Nyanza Palace, the royal home of King Musinga of Rwanda and his heir, King Rudahigwa, after this visit. The traditional Inyambo cows with their magnificent horns, which can put on quite a show, might also be seen.
You will travel to Kigali City after an educational tour to Butare, where you will be dropped off at the airport in time for your evening departure. This concludes your 5-Day Chimpanzee Safari and Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda.
