Tour Overview

This 5 Days safari gives you a great safari experience of a life time adventure, during this trip, you will be visiting the gorillas in their Natural habitat. This is one of the biggest safari activities in Africa: Gorilla trekking. You will also participate in a boat cruise in lake Burera, visit the genocide museum site in Kigali as well as a cultural visit in Musanze. Its once in a life time safari experience to be in the presence of these gentle giants.

Day by Day Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport

Upon arrival and Kigali international airport, our company driver/guide will meet you at the airport. He will pick you up and brief you about the 5 days safari before transferring you to hotel in Kigali where will check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Wake up and have morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Kigali genocide memorial grounds where you will visit this site which honors the memories of thousands of Rwandans who were killed during the 1994 genocide. While here, you will watch some clips and videos from some of the survivors of the incident. Thereafter, you will have lunch and embark on the drive to volcanoes National. On arrival, Drive and check in to the lodge for the rest of the afternoon. Prepare and relax for the next day adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park

Wake up for morning breakfast and thereafter, the driver will transfer you to the park offices for where you will attend a briefing on the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking. You will then be accompanied by arranger guide in to the forest to begin with the search. The activity may last to about 2-6 hours depending on the how far the gorillas have moved. Once you found them you will be allowed one hour with them.

After the trek, you will exit the forest and return to the starting point where you will meet with your driver who will transfer you back to the hotel for lunch, later afternoon, you may choose to relax at the lodge or head out for cultural visit to the Iby’Iwacu cultural site where you will meet the Rwandan locals, interact with them and get more insight on the Rwandan culture. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Golden Monkey and transfer to Kigali

After the morning breakfast, the driver/guide will pick you up and transfer to the park headquarters for another pre trekking briefing about Golden monkey trekking. The experience is not that different from gorilla trekking although golden monkey trekking is not as hectic compared to gorilla trekking. The monkeys make a lot of noise thus easier to locate them. But they keep changing from one tree branch to another, it requires you to follow them in much speed.

Thus, still requires physical fitness. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later transfer to Kigali.

Day 5: Departure

You will have a relaxed morning breakfast and thereafter, go on last Kigali city tour to visit some of the places in the city, you may also use this time to shop some nice souvenirs of your liking that you would like to go back with. You will have lunch and after, the driver will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
End of tour.

The trip will start from Kigali International Airport to Volcanoes National Park to Ibyiwacu Cultural and you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport.
