Day by Day Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and City tour

On arrival you will be picked from the airport by a company tour guide and head to your hotel for check in and lunch, In the afternoon you will have a tour of Kigali city where you will visit the genocide memorial centre and the national museum and also an opportunity to visit the old city of Kigali. You will then return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to volcanoes national park and twin lakes visit

On day 2 you will have your breakfast early in the morning and set off for Volcanoes national park then reach in time for lunch at your booked hotel. In the afternoon you can choose to go for an optional visit to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, or visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village.
Later in the evening you will have dinner at your hotel and rest.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Nyungwe forest

In the morning after your breakfast, you will be transferred to volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing by the park warden before beginning your trek. The trek will take about 4 to 6 hours. After the trek you will go back to the hotel for lunch and then transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park and have dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

Early in the morning you will have your breakfast and go for a briefing before entering the forest. Once in the forest, you will hear the chimpanzees communicating with each but be careful NOT to imitate their sounds as you don’t know what those sounds mean. You will be entitled 1 hour once the chimpanzees are found, after which you will head for lunch at your hotel.
In the afternoon you will then go for a canopy walk through Nyungwe forest where you will enjoy the wonderful scenery across the 70-meter suspended metal bridge. After the canopy walk you will head back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Akagera national park evening boat cruise

On day 5 you will have your breakfast early in the morning and set off for Akagera national park and reach in time for lunch at your booked hotel. After your lunch you will to go for an evening boat cruise on lake Ihema where you will have the opportunity of seeing Hippos, crocodile and some birds. After the boat cruise you will go back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Morning game drive and departure

In the morning you will be picked up at 6am just after your breakfast and you will start your morning game drive where you will be viewing small and large mammals, including buffaloes, elephants, the Maasai giraffes, lions, rhinos, Uganda Kobs, roan antelopes, and birds. The game drive will take about 4-5 hours after which you will return to the game safari lodge for lunch and check out of the lodge.
In the afternoon you will have the opportunity of viewing more wildlife as you exit the park on your way back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at your desired location as your tour comes to an end.

Getting There

The trip will start from Kigali International Airport to Volcanoes National Park to Nyungwe Forest National park to Akagera National Park and you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport.
